We're deeply committed to addressing the urgent need for health professionals who can recognise and treat disordered breathing. Every day, we hear from patients around the world looking for help in their region.
“I’m very grateful to receive a BradCliff scholarship. I’ve worked in cardiorespiratory physiotherapy for nearly 20 years across acute, subacute, and community settings in both the UK and Australia. After relocating to the Far South Coast of NSW a few years ago, I recognised a significant gap in access to cardiorespiratory physiotherapy in the region and established Heart & Lung Physio, a private practice providing home visits across the Bega Valley. Breathing pattern assessment and retraining is a central part of my work, and I regularly receive referrals from GPs, respiratory specialists, and other physiotherapists for clients with persistent or unexplained breathing symptoms. This training is a fantastic opportunity to consolidate my skills and continue building a consistent, evidence-based service that meets the needs of my local community.” – Gemma Pound, Australia

She is employed in NHS Lothian as a Community Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, assessing and treating people with respiratory conditions in their own homes. Alongside this she offers private physiotherapy assessment and treatment as Director and Owner of Take A Breath Physiotherapy, a private limited company registered in Scotland. This allows her to spend more time with people, taking the scenic route to explore their individual challenges and appropriate treatment plans." - Carla Ellis, Scotland
"I have been in respiratory medicine for about 20years. I currently work in the city of Exeter at Royal Devon and Exeter hospital.
I work in a team of specialist physiotherapists and respiratory nurses seeing patients with COPD in the acute, outpatient and community settings and I have a keen interest in patients who are approaching the end of their lives when breathlessness can feel overwhelming and distressing.
I am really looking forward to learning more about breathing pattern assessment and techniques to treat breathlessness associated with BPD as affects a huge amount of the patients I see and is often a cause for admissions and reduced quality of life. I am keen to be able to offer more to my patients and empower them to improve breathlessness control and improve their quality of life." - Katherine Longhurst, England
