Tjaša Romih, Slovenia"I am incredibly honored to receive this scholarship, which will enable me to further my knowledge and skills in respiratory physiotherapy. I work at a respiratory clinic in Slovenia, caring for adult patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions. My role involves supporting outpatients, hospitalized patients, post-surgery cases, intensive care patients, and those in respiratory rehabilitation programs. The new knowledge will enhance my expertise so I can make an even greater impact on the lives of patients in my community, helping them breathe and live more fully." - Tjaša Romih, Slovenia

Sally Elsom BPhty, GCert Resp Sci, PGDip Veterinary Physiotherapy (she/her) Advanced Physiotherapist - Respiratory Outpatients"I am thrilled to receive this scholarship and the opportunity to participate in the Bradcliff level one course. This field is so niche and specialised, it is hard to find quality high level professional development to increase my knowledge in the treatment of patients with breathing disorders. I am looking forward to the learning opportunities this course will present as well as the network of practitioners this course will open up to me.

I work for West Moreton Health, based primarily at Ipswich Hospital. Demand and complexity of acute respiratory care in WM is expected to double within the next 10 years. Also, West Moreton has the third highest asthma hospitalization rate in Australia. The burden of chronic respiratory disease on the community and health care system in this region is immense and growing. My role within respiratory outpatients has been developed in response to this, and I am well placed to have an impact on the management of patients with respiratory and breathing disorders, to improve this community’s knowledge and ability to manage their conditions out of the hospital environment. I also look forward to being able to pass this knowledge on to other Physiotherapists to broaden our skills in managing people with breathlessness and breathing disorders." - Sally Elsom, Australia

Sirka Hohndorf, Canadian Respiratory Therapist "It’s with a great deal of excitement that I accept your generous scholarship funding towards my upcoming BradCliff Breathing Method training.

I am a Canadian Respiratory Therapist with 30 years of clinical experience, and additional national certification as a Respiratory Educator. I have been working for seventeen years in publicly funded outpatient community care facilities supporting clients with a wide range of chronic respiratory ailments. Over the past 5 years I have encountered several clients - especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic—who present with high symptom burdens, yet lack clear cardiopulmonary diagnoses based on clinical findings. As we are a smaller community these clients currently must travel over 300 km to obtain specialized treatment which for some is not always possible. As I looked for options to obtain the skills required in assessing and treating clients with dysfunctional breathing, complex chronic cough, and vocal cord dysfunction the BradCliff Breathing Method course emerged as the most fitting solution. I can’t wait to get started on expanding my knowledge so that I can best support these currently underserved clients in my community and offer improvement to their quality of life." - Sirka Hohndorf, Canada

Suba Len, Physiotherapist, Wellington, New Zealand“I’m very grateful to have received a scholarship for the Level 1 Bradcliff Breathing Course, thank you Bradcliff team for your generous assistance!

With over 10 years of experience in Neuro and Vestibular rehabilitation, I’m currently working in a private practice in the windy city of Wellington. My main areas of focus are concussion and private vestibular rehabilitation.

Many of my clients recovering from concussion or dealing with dizziness, are often caught in a prolonged state of heightened stress, which can disrupt their breathing pattern. Being able to address this would be such a powerful tool in helping them feel better, recover faster, and achieve the best possible outcomes. I’m really looking forward to taking part in this course and bringing the Bradcliff Breathing Method into my practice.” - Suba Len, Wellington, New Zealand

"My name is Lucian and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to study the grace of breathing. I work in a South African hospital setting where we deal with critically ill patients, medical-, surgical- and cardiac patients. I'm excited to be able to assist these patients to improve their quality of life with evidence-based treatment. But hopefully I can have an impact on the staff members as well, to ease the anxiety brought on often by the stressful type of occupation." - Lucian Cronje, South Africa

Kara Fechter, Johannesburg, South Africa"I am incredibly grateful to have received a scholarship for the Bradcliff Breathing Level 1 course. Currently, I work at a public hospital in South Africa, where I provide care in both the ICU and general medical wards. Additionally, there are students working alongside us in the hospital. Taking this course will not only enhance my skills, allowing me to offer better patient care, but also enable me to share these valuable techniques with my colleagues and the students I work with." - Kara Fechter, Johannesburg, South Africa

Rachel Garrod, private practice for English speaking clients in Spain"I am extremely excited to be starting my journey on the BradCliff Breathing Course and so grateful to be a recipient of one of their scholarships. A decade ago, I made a significant change in my life by moving from the UK to Spain and from an academic assistant professorial position to running my own domiciliary private practice for English speaking clients. My clients predominantly have COPD or other respiratory conditions such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or Bronchiectasis. Post COVID, I have been seeing many more patients with dysfunctional breathing and know how the delivery of effective treatment is underpinned by a thorough understanding of the topic. Dysfunctional breathing is a complex and debilitating condition, but also, for those of us who work in the field, a fascinating topic. I am so excited to learn more.

With my background in academia I continue to lecture in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation for Galway University and the BradCliff teaching will enable me to expand my knowledge further into the area of dysfunctional breathing.

My new role and lifestyle have led to many exciting developments, not least a better lifestyle, however further professional development has been an additional challenge. As a lone practitioner in Spain, it can be isolating not working within a multidisciplinary team or having colleagues to bounce ideas off. As such, I am grateful to BradCliff not just for the learning prospects but also for the networking opportunities I know the course (and certification) will bring. I think this will be of tremendous value to me and ultimately to my patients." - Rachel Garrod, Spain

I treat patients with persistent pain, orthopedic conditions, and pulmonary diseases. When I am not directly treating patients, I support the pulmonary rehab program which is a 12 week program offering exercise, education, and breath retraining for patient with chronic pulmonary diseases. As a former yoga teacher- I deeply value the power of breath to support patients for a variety of reasons and am looking forward to deepening my understanding through this course and provide more support to my patients and community." - Michelle Volberg, USA
